From the artist: “Ginger Jar ~ Red. Part of a painting series of ginger jars in different colours, all based on drawings with details from the originals simplified and abstracted. The crimson red is created by heavily poured and painted egg tempera pigment, so leaving areas of luminous light and dark red colour. As a contrast the background is painted in gouache creating a matt, flat surface. The inspiration for the small birds in the background, picked out in gold paint, is from Indian gift-wrap paper.”
Measurements ~ 22.2 x 15 x 2.2 cm
Materials ~ Egg Tempera & Gouache on canvas. Framed ready to hang.
