Jo Myles
Jo Myles is an artist living and working in Sussex, experimenting in printing, painting and pottery. She is inspired by human relationships, nature and the beautiful landscapes of Sussex.
Her work observes the objects that people gather and keep in their homes and the nature of the landscapes they live in. She explores these through a variety of mediums, leaning towards printmaking, and extending her patterns and concepts into experimental ceramic works.
Observations of social interactions are critical to her practice as a maker. The process often starts with an observational sketch and eventually finds itself as a mark within her practice.
Jo creates beautiful handmade patterns, wallpaper, and interior objects to be cherished and enjoyed in people’s living spaces.
““Creating for me is about entering into an alternative world. I call it my magical safe place. I shrug off the everyday and life seems to hold a deeper colour there. I need to create as somehow life without it seems less vibrant.””
