Louise Kaye
Louise Kaye is a London based artist working from her studio in West Hampstead .
She studied Fine art and Critical Studies at Central St Martins, specialising in community art projects.
Louise is inspired by the natural world, both its beauty and the calamity we all face. Her work probes the limits of beauty and redundancy . Each piece is hand built, irregular and individual.
Of her process, Louise comments, “Clay is rolled, shredded and collaged; bold colour, aggressive lines, scratchy marks and drips of paint and glaze show the layered processes and the emotion invested in my making.”
Symmetry and pattern dissolve into irregular form and there is a visual pendulum that ticks between joy and fragility.
Louise has named the six ceramic pieces made for our Summer Solstice Show "To Nature " and they include plates to hang ,votive mini wild flower vases and altar bowls.
