Southover Gallery Summer Show: Solstice

Works from multiple artists and mediums, celebrating the magic of the Summer Solstice at The Southover Gallery. Artists: Amata Benedict, Katie Moore, Liz Temperley, Charlotte Salt, Studio IMO, Bruce Ingram, Chiara Perano, Kerry Louise Bennett, Jo Myles, Amabel Barraclough, Louise Kaye and Lål Yilmaz will be responding to the theme.

Emma Carlow: Whistle Making Workshop
21 June 10-1:30pm
Join Emma Carlow for a half-day whistle making workshop, inspired by her exploration of folk art whistles at the British Museum. You'll learn to craft and decorate your own ceramic bird whistle, drawing inspiration from Emma's collection. You do not need any previous clay experience. Once your whistles are complete, they will be left for drying and firing, and you can return to pick them up in a few weeks' time. Open to adults and children aged 11+, and the cost includes instruction, materials and the whistle you make.

Bountiful Blooms: Solstice Floral Bowl Workshop

As the sun reaches its highest point in the sky and the days stretch their longest, you are invited to honour the turning of the season with a joyful, hands-on workshop rooted in nature, creativity, and connection. Led by local flower farmer and floral designer, Natalia of @mywanderingflowers, you will learn how to create a lush floral arrangement using vibrant, freshly harvested blooms grown just outside of Lewes. All materials are provided, and you’ll leave with a beautiful floral arrangement of your own making.

Solstice Storytelling & Sound Healing Immersion
21 June, 7-9pm ~ Red Room, The Southover Gallery

Sammie and Patrick are joining forces to take you on an immersive journey into the mystical and liminal space of midsummer’s eve. Enjoy a magical evening of creative storytelling, soulful music and sound bowl healing while you relax and melt into the sound adventure. Together they welcome you for an evening of enchanting tales infused with meditative vibrations.

Sammie is the founder of Soul Warriors, Patrick of a I Feel Good Pilates and both are qualified Sound Healers.

Yoga mats, cushions, blankets and eye pillows provided although it’s advised to bring a bottle of water and any snacks you might need.

Rosi of Raw Solace’s jewellery is a union of ancient and new. She creates mainly in raw hammered brass with a mixture of re-purposed and antique pearls and stones. In the rhythmic hammering of brass, Rosi finds ancestral roots and a visceral remembering. Celebrate this solstice in an act of sacred decoration of self with Rosie’s ethereal beauties.
