Ray Walker

Ray Walker studied Three-Dimensional Design at Manchester Polytechnic before completing an MA in Ceramics at the Royal College of Art. He worked as a teacher and manager in Further Education for many years and is now making small paintings, developing earlier themes and techniques.

The painting content is inspired by nature, ceramics, and the use of colour. The work is informed by imagery from medieval manuscripts, Japanese art, Indian miniatures, and early 20th century modernist painting. Themes from art and design history are explored and developed using a simple, still-life format.

The paintings are in mixed media using egg tempera and gouache on claybordTM panel. Ink, gold leaf and pencil are also used.
