Bruce Ingram

Bruce Ingram’s mixed media and layered collages reference structures and viewpoints in landscape. Abstract in appearance his works take inspiration from the richness and seasonal shifts in nature, they often draw on his memories of growing up in Cornwall and more recently the immediate surroundings of the Sussex countryside and coast where he now lives.

Through experimentation with materials – predominantly cut and folded canvas - a textural surface evolves through adding and removing, editing, and remodelling. In the studio, Ingram is interested in the successes and failures of the creative process with canvas and paper fragments becoming his central resource to explore surface and form. The cumulative nature of these works gives a feeling of impermanence, embracing the transient and often ephemeral qualities of their constituent parts.
